Peru "Las Damas"
This special coffee was produced by the Cooperative Agraria Frontera San Ignacio (COOPFASI) high up in the Andean foothills. Not only is it fair-trade certified, but this unique cooperative was formed with an emphasis on gender equality. The cooperative works to improve the quality of life of the families within it, distributing small loans for land improvement and creating computer labs within the local communities. This coffee lot, “Las Damas” is woman grown and was selected for its emphasis on empowering and promoting women in the coffee industry. It is composed of washed coffees, primarily Typica, Mundonovo, Caturra, and Catimor varieties.
